What is an eternal marriage to me and what does it look like?

An eternal marriage to me is two, Godly people, who love each other deeply, striving to uphold their marriage covenant for God, for each other and even for themselves. There is patience, kindness, compassion, understanding, support and sharing of feelings and thoughts. There is attraction, physically, emotionally and mentally. They help bring out the best in one another. When there is a disagreement, they come together, willing to work together, by not only being truthful with their thoughts and feelings, but by really listening and hearing one another. They apologize to one another with accountability and forgive each other for short comings. They validate and respect one another and never make each other feel small. They are best friends and love to spend time together, but are also encouraging of having their own friends, interests and activities outside of their marriage. They work together to parent their children with love and patience. They are a strength to each other on rough days, but know when it is appropriate to let humor or playful activity in. They are careful to not get stuck in their routine, but to take time out to focus on one another and have fun together.They are willing to stretch and improve themselves even though it may be hard and uncomfortable. They take opportunities to serve each other everyday. They agree on what their roles and responsibilities will be and they work to fulfill them. Together they define what an eternal marriage is and are willing to work for it. Their body language with one another suggests that there is love, attraction, understanding of each other, appreciation, and a feeling of safety. And the end of the day, no matter what disagreements they may have had, there is no one they would rather be with.
